He has an axe to grind
Selfish motive to advance
This a story of a man who had to grind his axe but
locked the strength to do this for himself .He saw a young man, young and
strong busy with his grindstone. Fighting ignorance, the old man asked the boy
how the grindstone worked ,and whilst the boy demonstrated this with the old
man’s axe .The man kept on praising the boy’s strength and skill until the axe
was ground, whereupon went away laughing at the boy’s foolishness and gave him
no rewards .
